Incorporated in 1995 Osprey started in business by managing Port Agency representation for a number of World Class Shipowners. These contracts continue today and help to demonstrate the successful relationships that can be developed between a proactive agent and a forward thinking ship owner.
However, there are always cargoes that our represented owners can not accomodate. As such, Osprey diversified into a successful ship broking business which increasingly focused on Out of Gauge high value break bulk cargo.
It rapidly became clear that cargo owners, typically engineering companies, did not want to simply charter a vessel or space in a ship, but instead wanted a company who would take responsibility and project manage a full turn key service which included managing difficult interfaces.
Osprey responded to this call and formed a Projects divisions to provide these services and in so doing, became increasingly involved in transport engineering and with providing innovative solutions.
Osprey soon outgrew the opportunities in the South West UK business area and strategically expanded it\'s operations in the North East. Aquistion of NECS provided Osprey with a marine techical department and highly skilled labour. This streneghened Ospreys "Hands On" credentials.
Local demand from our regular client base in the North East prompted the purchase of a first Flat Top Cargo barge. Subsequently, the marine contracting area of our business has steadily grown and although we regularly charter in specific tonnage to suit our operations, it is our policy to continue in expanding our fleet.
Due to changes in the UK Engineering climate over recent years we have internationalised our business undertaking work in overseas locations.
Osprey remains focussed on ship owners and organising their UK operations as well as cargo owners who require innovative transport solutions. Although separate businesses, the result is that Osprey fully understands the whole process, and this is a key driver to why we can "Make things happen". Our staff are rotated between these business units to give them a unique understanding of the Marine Industry.
As in the past, Ospreys future will be about listening to the requirements of our customers and responding with new, innovative and cost effective services. Marine transportation is, and will continue to be, our field of expertise and we look forward to the prospect of new and exciting challenges within a range in Industry\'s.
